Dot
Lines is British born
but grew up on a sheep station in the Australian
outback. Returning to England at the age
of sixteen, she first became interested
in photography as a student but went on
to pursue a career in design & architecture.
Dot initially worked as an exhibition designer,
& was Chief Designer at the London Earls
Court Exhibition Centre, being involved
in the production of major international
exhibitions. At this stage her interest
in photography was mainly concerned with
the utilization of images in graphic design.
She set up & developed her own architectural
practice. Photography took something of
a back seat for a short while but she did
have some of her animal photography published
during this time.
Her passion for photography finally overcame
any common sense and she decided that gazing
into the jaws of an advancing lion held
more appeal than gazing into gaping drains
and waterlogged foundations. Many weeks
have been spent in the Serengeti where she
disappears for days at a time tracking and
recording the everyday lives of the big
cats, and other African wildlife When not
abroad, Dot concentrates on photographing
the rich & varied wildlife of Britain.
Her animal photographs are sent around the
world & are used for advertising, stationery,
book illustration, magazine covers, newspapers,
& on numerous products.
